Unconsultancy wrap-up

Unconsultancy in Manchester went well, I think. I certainly had a good time meeting some amazing people. Thanks to Andy from Indielab for organising it, taking me out for dinner, and letting me sleep in his house. Brilliant job all round.

  2. As an attendee, I’m sure I’m not out of line in feeling that the excitement shared by everyone there was energetic, almost to the point of revolutionary. Ideas zapped along every minute. From my notes, here’s a (deliberately small) selection of the many tidbits of conversation that added to the will to change the world and help provide further inspiration:

    - “stop making music, start making internet”
    - tell more stories
    - everyone loved the Kiwi fella that into embroidery no less, managed to get a covermount on the leading NZ mag in that space
    - “every band is great until you hear them!”
    - “don’t think how do I make money from my music, but how do I make money because of my music”
    - Shane’s first-stab strapline garnered appreciative gasps; “when Radiohead had surprises and Coldplay weren’t so yellow”
    - everyone wanted to own websearch terms like Alun could for his “People’s Republic of Limerick” song
    - how could we learn from the terrific sounding twhisky event, where 800 people tasted whisky together on twitter?
    - and hats off to Keith for sharing wonderful experiences of ‘concerts in people’s homes’ all around the world

A great, fulfilling workshop. Hope to catch up with some of you at Unconvention today and strive to make something worthwhile happen.
